THE ORATORY

The idea of a place worthy of the Mother of God arose in the minds of the devotees of the Virgin in the midst of the joys of the Coronation (May 31, 2009). That same year a pilgrimage of a replica of the image was organized through all the villages north of the parish of Tangua, collecting donations for the oratory that was planned to be built.

On July 10, 2010, the cornerstone was placed and blessed in the site that with mingas of devoted workers had been created in the rugged mountain to make room for the site of veneration of the image. The blueprints for the oratory are the work of Mr. Jesús Ramos and the construction work was carried out by the master builder Luis Salazar.

The oratory is a small construction, but it is a very dignified place. It has two towers in the highest one there is a conical construction that reminds us that Christ is the mountain of the encounter with the Father, in the other tower which is in the back façade of the small construction there are the bell and the cross.

THE IMAGE OF THE VIRGIN

The image of the virgin that is venerated in La Peña is a handmade carving that measures only 10 cm, is made of polychrome resin and represents Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus Christ in his youth.  The image celebrates the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin who keeps and treasures in her maternal Heart the mysteries of Christ.

Her arms are extended in attitude of receiving her children, she holds a rose in her right hand as a symbol of her purity, her gaze rests slightly towards the floor, as if looking at the pilgrim who cries out for the mother's intercession. The image is the work of the same author and promoter of the devotion, who after a deep experience of Marian faith, captured the figure of the Blessed Virgin, first as a simple drawing and then in this small image.
